Substantive Contribution
Section 1: My Personal Cognitive Theory
The Redundancy Principle stood out to me and is something that I intuitively follow in my life. I love giving presentations, and one of the reasons I do is that I don’t try to cram everything onto a slide and then memorize it word for word. Instead, I use prompts through keywords, and then I educate myself enough in the topic that just by reading the prompt, I can present the information I want to.

The Benefit of Redundancy Principle
Throughout my life, using the Redundancy principle in this way has benefitted me as it has forced me to be a comfortable speaker in front of others. I noticed this when giving a presentation about goal setting, as I learnt and engaged more with the material, it felt more natural to talk about it in conversation, and then it clicked, that’s what it is to present. Presentation is just a form of conversation.
Section 2: Project Principle
For my project, I want to look at how hand gestures relate to Big 4 principals. As I was reading the Contiguity section, I pondered about if that is why people communicate with their hands and if it developed as a way to use multimedia in person to better communicate our points.

Intended Audience
I believe teachers will be my target audience for my project, as I want to study not just how hand gestures developed, but also how to utilize them to help students learn in the classroom
